He has a degree in Agronomy from the Federal University of Amazonas (1984), a master's degree in Biology (Ecology) from the National Institute of Amazonian Research (1992) and a PhD in Ecology - Pennsylvania State University (1999). Full Professor and former Special Advisor for International Relations (2021-2023) at the Federal University of Amazonas - UFAM. Director (2023 - 2027), visiting professor and researcher at the National Institute of Amazonian Research - INPA. Former President (2017-2019) and former Executive Secretary (2019-2023) of the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Environment and Society - ANPPAS. Former State Superintendent of the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources - IBAMA for the state of Amazonas (2003-2009). Thematic coordinator of the ecology area of the Acariquara Institute. Full member of the Brazilian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Member of the Scientific Methodological Committee - CCM of the Environmental Services Policy of the State of Amazonas. National Director of the French-Brazilian Center for Amazonian Biodiversity (2024-present). Vice-president of the Amazonian Network for Research and Innovation in Biodiversity (2024-present). He has experience in the area of Agronomy and Environmental Sciences, working mainly on the following topics: public environmental management, management of natural resources for collective use, protected areas, family agriculture and traditional communities.
